This rotating cable car carries you from the lower cable car base all the way to the top cable station onto the flat summit of the 260-million year old Table Mountain. The top cable car post is 1,067 m high and you can easily watch the city getting smaller as you go steeply up the mountain. The ride will take about 5 minutes and there are cable cars going up and down every 10 to fifteen minutes. You can also walk up to the level plateau, which stretches out for 3 kilometeres, or take the cable car. After exploring the beauty of the short walks on the mountain top, you can either return in the cable car or alternatively select the more daring way of clambering down that part of the mountain. Whatever you might select, you are guaranteed of enjoying every minute of the outing. The all round view from the flat summit is simply amazing since you can see the entire city, extending from Bloubergstrand (Blue Mountain Beach), Devils Peak, Signal Hill, and the Victoria & Albert Waterfront all the way to Somerset West on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains. The ‘Shop on Top of the mountain sells t-shirts, caps and souvenirs that you might want to purchase before going back down.
